"No One Is You. And THAT Is Your Power." - Dave Grohl. A totally vulnerable, deeply real and delightfully humorous story, set in Jamaica, New York, and Italy. “What The Hell Am I Supposed To Do With My Life?!” takes you on a journey from depression and anxiety to peace, purpose, and magic in today’s modern world. A mash-up of teachings from Buddha, Jesus, Oprah, Marie Forleo and much more. This book is a CliffNotes of spirituality's greatest hits, wrapped up in a relatable true tale. Enjoy going on an adventure of self-exploration, Eat-Pray-Love style, and come out the other side more inspired, self-aware and clearer on what’s up ahead of you and what steps you’ll need to take next for your own journey! Long live the calling you feel in your soul! This book will help you answer it!
Where to start? I stumbled across the book by accident, and I want to start off by saying that I am definitely not the type to read or even finish a self-help book! However, I felt drawn to read this book as like Krystal, I am at a point in my life where I feel stuck and am searching for something more. It was so refreshing to read this, because I too am a chronic over-thinker, perfectionist and control freak! One of the hardest things for me to do is let go, and trust that the universe will take care of me. I should also preface this by saying I can really relate to the author because we have a lot of similarities. I'm Jamaican and I live and breathe to please and make my parents proud of me, because I know that they have given me so much. I feel incredibly guilty if something I am doing does not have an end goal in making them happy! Another thing that resonated with me in this book is that for me the concept of "God" had always seemed like some abstract, distant story..." to me. However as I said earlier, I am still learning to trust in the universe and letting go of that control. This is a great book for anyone at any age, as it has great and useful tips for anyone who is feeling stuck in life, dealing with difficult and challenging situations you feel there is no way out of or just for anyone who feels like they need a nudge in the right direction to living their authentic lives. The book has some real laugh out loud moments (it's even better when you listen to the Audiobook and hear the Jamaican accent). I think it's the perfect balance of humour and solid advice. At times when I was reading it, I felt like she was peeking into my brain and just put it on paper! I would highly recommend this to anyone and I am not a fan of self-help books!Thank you for sharing your experiences and journey with the world Krystal!
